“20 years have passed since Madeleine Albright, the then State Secretary, visited Slovakia. Since then we have come a long way. Today, we are allies and partners. The quality of our relations is incomparable.” These are the words that Miroslav Lajčák used to welcome his American counterpart Mike Pompeo at their joint press conference, during Pompeo’s historic first visit to Slovakia. Today (12 February 2019), at the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs, the partners discussed the most relevant themes of international policy.
The two-day working visit of the Minister of Foreign and European Affairs of the Slovak Republic Miroslav Lajčák to Georgia in his position of the OSCE Chairperson-in-Office continued today (11 February 2019) with meetings with the Head of Georgian diplomacy David Zalkaliani, State Minister for Reconciliation and Civic Equality Ketevan Tsikhelashvili, the Georgian Prime Minister Mamuka Bakhtadze, the Speaker of the Parliament Irakli Kobachidze and President Salome Zurabishvili. The meetings of the partners focused on the OSCE activities in Georgia and the current developments in the country and the region.

Today (8 February 2019), Miroslav Lajčák, Slovak Minister of Foreign and European Affairs, and Chairperson-in-Office of the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE), called Pavlo Klimkin, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, to discuss the upcoming 31 March 2019 presidential elections in Ukraine. Among the various issues addressed by the ministers was the support of OSCE’s Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (ODIHR) in observing these elections, which was provided in response to an official invitation from Ukraine.
Today (8 February 2019), Miroslav Lajčák, Minister of Foreign and European Affairs of the Slovak Republic received Chung Byung Hwa, Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to Slovakia, on the occasion of the beginning of his diplomatic mission in Slovakia.
